TERMS OF SERVICE

1. Introduction

1.1. The Socialism AI Chatbot ("Socialism AI," "the Chatbot," "the Service") is an AI-powered research assistant that provides access to the material published on the World Socialist Web Site (wsws.org). The Chatbot is owned and provided by Left Insight LLC, doing business as Socialism AI (“Socialism AI”, "we," "our," or "us") with its registered office at 418 N. Main Street, Suite 200-#3872, Royal Oak, MI, 48067-1813 and company number 39-3457835. By using the Chatbot you are concluding a contract with Socialism AI. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern the use of the Chatbot by you (the “user,” “you,” and “your”). They form a binding agreement between us and you.

1.2. By accessing or using the Chatbot, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, you may not access or use the Service. Your use of the Chatbot constitutes an agreement to these Terms.

1.3. Any terms and conditions of the user that conflict with, differ from, or add to these Terms of Service do not apply unless we expressly agree to them. These Terms of Service shall also apply if we unconditionally perform services despite knowledge of differing or contrary terms and conditions of the user.

2. Service Description

2.1. The Chatbot is an experimental tool that attempts to utilize developments in artificial intelligence to facilitate political education. The Chatbot:

  • Helps locate and synthesize information from the WSWS archives
  • Generates responses based primarily on WSWS-published content
  • Is not intended to provide original analysis beyond what is found in WSWS materials

2.2. The Chatbot's responses should not be considered official statements of the Socialist Equality Party or the Trotskyist movement. For the party’s official position on any subject, refer directly to statements and perspectives published on wsws.org.

2.3. If you feel that the Chatbot’s responses do not accurately reflect the position of the Trotskyist movement, or have any other question about the Chatbot’s responses, please contact us at support@ai.wsws.org

3. Free Access
Limited free access to the Chatbot may be provided, restricted, or disallowed at our sole discretion. We may change the level of free access allowed at any time.

4. Socialism AI Subscription

4.1. Account. We require that you create an account and make payments for greater access to the Chatbot. You must provide accurate information about yourself when you create an account and ensure that you update us if that information changes. We protect your account with appropriate security measures. You must also keep your login details private and must not share them with anyone else. You are responsible for any activity, including any purchases made, under your account.

4.2. Costs. If you use currencies other than dollars to purchase a subscription, you are responsible for any currency exchange fees, for complying with any applicable laws, and for any other fees, taxes, or fines associated with the transaction. In making any monetary transaction, you agree not to evade any laws, regulations, sanctions, or tariffs that may apply, and you agree to defend and indemnify us from any charge or claim that your use of the service constituted a violation of any such requirements or restrictions.

4.3. Subscription terms. We offer you the ability to purchase subscriptions to the Service, which may be purchased in different tiers, each with different limits on the use of the Service. Payment is due on the first day of each subscription period.

4.4. Cancellation and Refunds. You may voluntarily cancel your subscription at any time. However, if you cancel your subscription at any point, we will not provide a whole or partial refund, but you will continue to have access to the service until that pay period expires.

4.5. Automatic Renewal. Unless you cancel your subscription it will renew automatically for the same subscription period. You may agree to pay automatically at the beginning of each subscription period.

5. Age Requirements
You must be above the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction to use the Socialism AI Chatbot. If you are below legal majority in your jurisdiction, you may only use the Service with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by these Terms.

6. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time and for any reason, including the following:

  • You violate these Terms;
  • You use the Service in a manner that we, at our sole discretion, determine to constitute a threat of harm to any person or group; to reflect bigotry, hatred, harassment, or prejudice; or to be vulgar or offensive;
  • You use the Service in a way that is inconsistent with its Acceptable Use (as defined below) or with its intended use as a tool for political education;
  • We are required to do so by law

If we suspend or terminate your account in the middle of a subscription period, we may at our discretion provide a whole or partial refund for the time remaining in your subscription period.

7. Limitations

The Chatbot is designed to provide political analysis and education. It is NOT intended to provide:

  • Medical or mental health advice
  • Legal advice or guidance
  • Financial advice
  • Technical instructions for dangerous activities
  • Guidance on illegal activities
  • Other non-political purposes

If you ask questions in these categories, the Chatbot may refuse to respond or direct you to appropriate resources rather than providing a substantive response.

While we strive to ensure the quality and accuracy of the Chatbot's responses, you acknowledge that:

  • The Chatbot may not have access to the most recent WSWS publications
  • Responses are generated by an AI system and may contain errors or omissions
  • The Chatbot may not be able to answer all questions, particularly those outside the scope of WSWS content
  • Responses should not be considered official statements of the Socialist Equality Party or ICFI or any affiliated party/group or the WSWS

8. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Chatbot only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You will not use the Service to:

  • Violate applicable laws or regulations

  • Infringe the intellectual property or other rights of the WSWS or any third party. In particular, you must not upload or share content through the Service unless you either own the rights to that content, have permission from the rights holder, or are otherwise legally allowed to use it (for example under applicable copyright exceptions or similar rights).

    Sharing links to third-party websites or short excerpts of content for the purposes of discussion, analysis or requesting a response from the Service is permitted, provided such use is lawful in your jurisdiction.”

  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers or networks connected to the Service

  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service

  • Create a false identity or impersonate another person

  • Collect or store personal data about other users

You further agree not to:

  • Use automated systems to access the Chatbot
  • Attempt to reverse engineer the Chatbot
  • Circumvent any rate limiting or access restrictions
  • Republish Chatbot responses without proper attribution to the WSWS
  • Use the Chatbot to develop competing services

9. Reporting Issues

If you encounter responses from the Chatbot you believe are unintended or inappropriate, technical issues, or security vulnerabilities in the Service, please report them immediately to support@ai.wsws.org.

10. Intellectual Property Rights

To the maximum extent permitted by law, all content provided through the Chatbot, including without limitation content derived from articles, analyses, and other materials published on wsws.org, is owned by us and the World Socialist Web Site and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

Together with the World Socialist Web Site, we reserve all rights under such laws, and to the extent permitted by law we do not permit such content to be republished or used in any way without our express written permission.

The responses generated by the Chatbot are provided for your personal, non-commercial use. The use of the Service in any way for a commercial purpose is prohibited and constitutes a violation of these terms.

11. Feedback

If you provide suggestions, comments, or other feedback about the Service, we may use this feedback without any obligation to you.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE CHATBOT IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • The accuracy, completeness, or reliability of Chatbot responses
  • The uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Service
  • The security of the Service against unauthorized access or data breaches
  • The suitability of the Service for your specific purposes

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, AND AS A CONDITION FOR YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE IN ANY WAY, YOU AGREE THAT THE INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE OF THE FOURTH INTERNATIONAL, THE SOCIALIST EQUALITY PARTY, THE WORLD SOCIALIST WEB SITE, AND THEIR RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, MEMBERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Damages resulting from the use or inability to use the Service
  • Damages resulting from any content obtained through the Service
  • Damages resulting from unauthorized access to or use of your data
  • Damages resulting from service interruptions or data loss

14. Service Modifications and Availability

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Chatbot, temporarily or permanently, with or without notice. We will not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.
We do not guarantee that the Service will be available at all times or that it will be free from disruptions or errors. We may perform maintenance or updates that could cause the Service to be interrupted for any period of time.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the Service or by other means. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

16. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States and the State of Michigan.
If you access the Service, including without limitation from outside Michigan or the United States, you are responsible for complying with all applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction, including any applicable tariffs or taxes.

17. Indemnity

YOU AGREE TO DEFEND AND INDEMNIFY US FROM ANY CLAIM OR COMPLAINT THAT YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE VIOLATED ANY LAW OR REGULATION. YOU AGREE TO DEFEND AND INDEMNIFY US FROM ANY CLAIM OR COMPLAINT THAT YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE DAMAGED OR HARMED ANY PERSON OR ENTITY.

Additional terms only for residents in the EEA

19. Right to withdrawal

19.1. Consumers residing in the EEA may close their account and withdraw from these terms within 14 days of agreeing to them by contacting our support team (“support@ai.wsws.org”) or sending us the completed sample withdrawal form. (“Link to sample”)

19.2. A "consumer" is a natural person who concludes the agreement for a purpose which cannot be attributed to a commercial or self-employed activity.

19.3. To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.

19.4. If you withdraw from this contract, we shall reimburse to you all payments received from you, without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract. We will carry out such reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.

19.5. If you have requested that the services begins during the withdrawal period, you shall pay us a reasonable amount corresponding to the proportion of the services already provided up to the time you notify us of the exercise of the right of withdrawal with respect to this contract in comparison to the total scope of the services provided for in the contract. If the contract has already been fulfilled in total (e.g. when all the prompts of the subscription period have been used up), you lose your right of withdrawal. This does not effect your right to terminate the contract (see point 4.4.).

20. Warranties

20.1. The Chatbot is provided within the scope of current technical and operational capabilities. We do not guarantee that the content of the Chatbot is always up to date, correct, or complete, or that the Service will be available without interruption, error-free, and secure.

20.2. The content of the Chatbot does not constitute individual advice and does not replace professional information. Please see point 7 of these Terms.

20.3. Warranty rights for consumers regulated by law remain unaffected.

21. Limitation of Liability

21.1. We shall be liable for damages resulting from injury to life, limb, or health caused by negligent or intentional breach of duty on our part or on the part of our legal representatives or vicarious agents.

21.2. For other damages we shall only be liable in cases of intent and gross negligence. In the event of a slightly negligent breach of essential contractual obligations (cardinal obligations), liability shall be limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract.

21.3. Any further liability is excluded.
